As we come to the the start of a New Year we want to thank all of our supporters and share some insights from our FoodStock2021 recipients. This is the first in a series of stories from our frontline partners that show what difference your support of FoodStock 2021 has made.
Eloise Morton is from Square Food Foundation;
“The FoodStock parcels from FareShare SW has been invaluable for our families. Each parcel has been give to a family who has attended Square Food Foundation Christmas Cooking classes for children on Free School Meals. Being able to send the children home with an amazing amount of quality food has helped 36 families in South Bristol.”
Chris Stenner is the Chief Community Officer for The Bristol City Robins Foundation,
“Bristol City Robins Foundation has worked with over 200 young people who live in areas of deprivation across South and Central Bristol across this winter. These young people are individuals who are on free school meals and/or have been identified by schools and benefiting from additional support through the school holidays. The entire week has been free to all.
The support offered has been through fun football and activity sessions across four areas of Bristol. Easton, Knowle, Hengrove and Hartcliffe. We have delivered over 80 hours of free activities for the young people and been able to provide healthy meals, snacks and drinks. Along side this, FareShare SW has provided 450 food parcels to give to families we are working with throughout our holiday camps and also on Xmas eve with target addresses.
Without the generosity of partners like FareShare SW, this work would not be possible, and the most rewarding element of the camps is to see the young people being fed, socially interact, and having fun. All while partaking in football activities.”
Community Food Network (CFN) is a group of volunteers who are passionate about getting free high quality healthy and nutritious meals to those in need or socially isolated. The group helps those in Midsomer Norton, Radstock and the surrounding area. Jon Durrant from CFN is delighted that their project is now sustainable,
“Just a quick thank you for another good delivery from FareShare this week. We would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to you both and all your colleagues at Fareshare for what you do. This year’s partnership between Community Food Network and FareShare has been amazing and thanks to you we are able to donate food to those in most need in our area. Also, thanks to FareShare our project is now sustainable. So, thank you.”
Hannah Jack is the School Business Manager at Brentry Primary School,
“We use the food from FareShare SW and the other organisations we collect from to support individual vulnerable families with weekly food parcels. We also provide a food pantry twice a week to the whole school community. Access to this food makes a massive different to our families. It also enables us to have regular contact with vulnerable parents that we may have concerns about. We could not provide this service without the support of FareShare.”
Rita Rich is the Project Manager at Lawrence Weston out of school activities club,
“A huge THANK YOU to you all at FareShare South West. Snack at both our After School Clubs at Lawrence Weston and Shirehampton has certainly taken on a whole new meaning. So much lovely fresh food and choice. Absolutely no waste as anything left over is bagged up for the children to take home”.
