Meet Florence, our intern with a flair for flavourful, budget-friendly recipes!

At our Plymouth warehouse, we welcomed Florence, a third-year student studying Nutrition, Exercise and Health from Plymouth University. Inspired by our rescued food, she’s created a tasty collection of budget-friendly recipes for you to enjoy!

Here’s a personal message from Florence:

Ever since I could remember, I have always enjoyed cooking and baking.

I developed these recipe cards with the belief that everyone deserves access to affordable food, and everyone deserves to have at least one hot meal a day to function at their best.

I also wanted to prove that cooking does not have to be complicated or time-consuming and you don’t have to spend a lot of money on specialist ingredients to have good tasting and nutritious food.

Florence, and her dog!

I discovered the opportunity to do a micro internship with FareShare South West to develop recipe cards. This project intrigued me as the role encompassed everything that I am interested in. I enjoyed the project as it has allowed me to be creative in coming up with new meal ideas.

I had never heard of FareShare South West before, but what attracted me to the charity is that we share the same values, such as perfectly good-quality food need not be wasted, when it can be given to those most in need.

We hope you enjoy these recipe cards! Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing a new recipe each month for you to try.

If you give any of them a go, we’d love to hear how it went! Don’t forget to snap of your creation and send it our way.

You can share your feedback and photos by emailing us at communications@faresharesouthwest. We can’t wait to see what you cook up!
