Alzheimer’s Support is one of our fantastic charity members. They work throughout Wiltshire providing much-needed services for those suffering from dementia and their families. Their work enables those living with various forms of dementia to lead active, more independent lives. Food is often at the heart of services provided at their centres. As well as providing a nutritious meal, eating together is a chance for people to relax and chat together with other service users and their families.
FareShare South West has provided food to Alzheimer’s Support Centres in both Devizes and Trowbridge for three years. They collect their food order each week from their local Collection Point in Chippenham. In May, the charity will be opening a brand new centre in Warminster to allow them to better serve the surrounding community. We are looking forward to joining them in this new venture by providing food for their new centre, and will be kicking things off by attending their launch party!
“The partnership with FareShare has been fantastic for Alzheimer’s Support. It has meant our day club members get a nutritious and tasty home cooked meal at a fraction of what this would normally cost us. Lunch is a focal part of the day in our clubs and being able to serve such a delicious lunch helps everyone
to socialise and eat well. Having access to such a wide range of fresh ingredients has helped our staff and volunteer chef come up with varied and interesting menus. It is a great example of cooperation between organisations coming together for mutual support and we are so pleased to be part of the scheme. Our dementia day clubs in Devizes and Trowbridge have benefited so much from this scheme in the past three years and we are looking forward to continuing the partnership and providing delicious lunches at our new club in Warminster.” Grant Newton, Head of Day Care at Alzheimer’s Support
