The third annual #GivingTuesday is set for Tuesday 2nd December and this year, hopefully the first of many to come, the UK has joined the movement.
Find a way to give something back to the cause of your choice, let people know about your donation, and inspire others to join the movement of giving. It’s about celebrating generosity and creating a new tradition of giving something really worthwhile, rather than indulging in another holiday treat we might not really need.
Whether you choose to donate your time, money or voice, #GivingTuesday is a call to action for everyone. Here is how a donation to FareShare South West will really make a difference:
It costs us around £500 to deliver one tonne of food, but we deliver around 30 tonnes of food per month to over 130 organisations that work with vulnerable people in Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and Somerset. 30 tonnes of food = 71,430 meals. This food would have been thrown away due to reasons like the barcode not working, out of date promotion or short date.
We also run a successful volunteer programme where we support and train volunteers to help them gain confidence, have a good time and move into further training or employment. We currently support around 70 volunteers through the week.
And we have developed an award winning sustainable catering service where we offer catering to the voluntary sector whilst training volunteers in the catering and hospitality sector.
So please give your time to promote us, to volunteer or to donate some money.
