After five incredible years’ leadership, we are this month saying a fond farewell to our CEO Julian Mines.
Julian has done an incredible job reshaping the charity since 2017. Back when he arrived, we had just three members of staff and were shifting 15 tonnes each month. Five years later, we’re a multi region charity, distributing food for over 5 million meals per year.
Julian says: ‘After five years leading this amazing organisation I am moving on to a new role. I leave behind an incredibly talented and committed team of people, including staff, Trustees, and volunteers, that care passionately about the work of the charity in impacting some of the most challenging social issues through redistributing surplus food. They have been an inspiration as well as a source of support and encouragement. FareShare South West massively increased its work through the pandemic and has emerged stronger with plans for further growth, and I am so grateful for the support from not only the team here, but also the many supporters, funders, partners, and our friends at FareShare UK and across the FareShare network, which has made all this possible.‘
We are extremely grateful to Julian for his commercial acumen, sensitivity, good humour and kindness that have all helped transform FareShare South West’s operation, impact and culture. Julian will be much missed by the team, but we wish him the very best of luck for his new venture as CEO of Bristol Charities, where we know he will bring a huge amount of value.
The team sent him off in style last week, with teary speeches, a cake with his face on, and plenty of trademark staff silliness (a conga line dancing all the way to the pub!). He was also presented with a book of memories of his time here- we thought we would share a few with you all:
