GL11 Community Hub is in the heart of the town of Cam, not far from Gloucester. The charity offers a huge variety of vital support and well being services to the local community, from employment support to holiday kids programmes, and much more! They offer food through their community cafe every day of the week, and always have a stock of food for food parcels to hand out to anyone who needs it.

Every Thursday afternoon, our FareShare South West volunteers deliver food to GL11 in one of our FareShare South West vans. GL11 are one of our biggest members, receiving up to 15 crates of food each week. Once a week the centre hosts a community lunch, which is especially important to elderly people in the local area. The lunch is a chance to see friends, make new ones and eat a nutritious meal together at the hub.

Diana manages all the meals here along with her team of amazing volunteers- and she is one of the most creative chefs we know! Today she has whipped up a three course pork roast. Dessert is some strawberry mousses from some milkshakes FareShare South West gave them last week. “We don’t really get fresh food from anybody else, so it really helps us out- we wouldn’t be able to do all this otherwise. The only thing we paid full price for was the gravy!”

Robert Cook is a regular lunch club member: “The food here is amazing- it’s different every day. You go to other places and it’s not the variety like here. We had different meat every day last week, all really good stuff.”
