Welcome to FareShare Bath
In October 2011 we became part of the Hub and Spoke Venture and started deliveries in Bath.
We currently deliver over half a tonne of food a week to 10 charities in Bath. This not only saves the projects money but increases the range of food that is available to their service users.
A lot of this food would have been landfilled. For every tonne of food that is landfilled the equivalent to 0.5 tonnes of CO2 is emitted and the equivalent of 4.2 tonnes of CO2 would be generated from the manufacture and transport of that food. Experts claim that eliminating food waste in the west could lift a billion people out of hunger .
- To stop good food being wasted.
- To save local charities money in a time where many are facing funding cuts
- To reduce food poverty
- To provide volunteering opportunities
Deliveries are currently every Monday afternoon. There is a small subscription fee which equates to a fraction of the market value of this food. If your organisation is interested in receiving food then please get in touch. We give the first delivery free so you can see how it works.
If you are a business in or around Bath that has surplus food within its use-by date that you would like to donate then please get in touch.
FareShare relies on volunteers to work.
As this is a new project in the development stages there are a number of volunteering opportunities to help with everything from publicity and fundraising to helping with food deliveries. Please get in touch if you are interested in helping out.
